Installation care and cleaning instructions for laminate flooring:
- Before installing a laminate floor, ensure that the floor is level (not to be more than 3mm per meter variance).
- Expansion gaps 1mm per meter of floor (both sides). Do not exceed an 8mm meter without expansion gap. Use expansion gaps in all doors.
- Check to see if sub floor does not have excessive moisture content (not more than twenty percent).
- Use a vapor barrier with underlay.
- If sub floor is new allow minimum of 30 days to cure sufficiently (weather conditions).
- Laminate floor is a finished product and does not require floor polish.
- Daily vacuum cleaning or sweeping with a soft broom is generally sufficient.
- When you wish to clean with a mop it is essential to use as little water as possible.
- Use a damp mop. (Supplied by LFD)
- Do not use a spaghetti mop or pour water directly on the floor.
- Do not rub with abrasives (e.g. coarse or gritty steel wool).
- Never use steam cleaning equipment.
- Remember when cleaning a laminate floor – less is more.
- Although laminate floors are very resistant to wear and scratches, use felt pads under furniture legs, and pads or plastic cups under chair legs as an added precaution.
